Uruk Hai > Ash Nazg Durbatulûk t-shirt

Title: Ash nazg durbatulûk t-shirt
Format: Err, well it’s a t-shirt, black, 100% cotton, available from Ancient Meadows in various sizes from S to 2XL, and with a splendid cover print.
Edition: unspecified

Like any good soap opera (and in all honesty, life in Castle Nazgul has almost reached such proportions now with one thing and then another going down) I rather left you in a cliff-hanger in my last post, when I promised to share with you the new Uruk-Hai t-shirt that’s been unveiled by Ancient Meadows.

And so, without further ado, here it is.

Nazgul’s copy remains sealed, as you can see, as an appropriate moment to unwrap and wear it has yet to materialise.  Somehow striding hospital wards in the thing doesn’t seem entirely the right thing to do.  As a result, it’s a treat being saved up for a rainy day.

The full image you see, therefore, is taken from Ancient Meadows own website.

Some essential background knowledge to this t-shirt: It features artwork created by Hugin himself, and the Black Speech inscription comes from the “One Ring”:

“Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, Ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul”

Which translates, as you very well know, as “One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”  In Tolkien’s story, these lines inscribed on the One Ring were pronounced by Sauron when he forged the Ring; the Elven smiths heard him chanting them, and thereupon became aware of his purpose and took off their own Rings to foil his plan.
